On behalf of citizens of Suwon, I would like to give a warm welcome and sincere gratitude to everyone visiting the 19th International Conference on Safe Communities official website. The city of Suwon, centered around Hwasung Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage, is a cultural tourism city where equilibrium between tradition and modern technology exist to produce world-class, high-tech industries that are at peace with the environment. This harmony of culture and innovation has propelled Suwon to become a city of happiness and safety as well. In accord with the characteristics of Suwon, we are very proud to be hosting the 19th International Conference on Safe Communities, where health professionals, policy makers, and community practitioners throughout the world will be sharing knowledge they have accumulated since last decades, and mutual cooperation as well as new directions for sustainability will be coordinated. As the Honorary Chairperson, I will promise to fully support this conference with every asset I have to my utmost ability, along with the support of the city of Suwon, Asia’s the first designated Safe Community, as the foundation for Asian Regional Safe Community Network. As the theme for this conference is ‘Sustainability of Safe Community Programs’, we will go over the past results of the efforts that have been put into injury prevention and safety promotion, and will also set the stage to discuss future plans to further expand and develop the Safe Community program sustainable. I hope that the 19th International Conference on Safe Communities, to be held March, 2010 in Suwon, Korea, will help secure infrastructure for international collaboration, to allow more active involvement to help further develop and advance community safety promotion around the world. I am very looking forward to seeing all of you at the 19th International Conference on Safe Communities in March 2010, Suwon, Korea. Thank you.
